Localization best practices
Koji speaks English by default, but it supports multiple languages. This page describes the best practices for you to set up your virtual assistant in a non-default language.
Supported languages
Koji supports the following languages:
English (default)
French
Spanish
German
Portuguese
Brazilian Portuguese
Polish
Italian
Language detection
Here are a few points to know about the language detection and management:
A user's language is automatically detected based on their account preferences/environment settings.
Koji backoffice is presented in English.
You can edit Koji content in the language of the current user.
The anonymous account uses English by default.
Switching languages
To modify the content in a specific language, you must switch to this language first. To do so:
In your Jira Service Management project, go to Koji backoffice.
Use the language selector to switch to the language whose content you want to modify.
Now, you can modify the content in the chosen language.
Modifying content
To customize content, go to Koji settings and scroll down to the Global settings section.
Welcome message
You can modify welcome messages for each supported language.
Click Edit in the Welcome section.
Modify the content: you can use either plain text or HTML.
Click Save.
Bot name
As the bot name is international, you can define only one for all the supported languages. To modify the name:
Click Edit in the Bot name section.
Modify the content: you can use either plain text or HTML.
Click Save.
Request management
The Jira Service Management content is not translated and is used as is. If you have JSM in Spanish by default (for project settings, request fields, and so on), this language will be used.
Other elements of Request management will be localized in the language of the current user.
